This would be a birthday present for someone dear to me.
She turned around and stare at the door. She couldn't believe it. He turned away just like that. She then walked around her apartment and she felt empty. So empty. The pictures, reminiscence of them together are gone. The closet is empty. The  bed feels cold. So does her heart. Jealousy. The dreaded green monster in her just ripped their relationship apart. Why must she endure all this just to suit his outrages demand of a job? She had already been insecure all along and he just had to push her to the brink. Maybe it's fated. Fated that she wouldn't find happiness.
"Breakups are so like me" she whispered to herself. "All hurt, broken and hopeless. Just like me." Pearls of tears rolls down her face. She then sat on the couch in the living room while toying the necklace pendant she's wearing. The only thing remained from him. A single twist pendant. The twist that signifies the moment they met and become one. Then she heard a thud outside the front door and unmistakeably the jiggling sound of keys.
By the time she turned around, he'd already had her in his embrace. He kept on apologizing and promised to quit his job and start anew. Her arms were limp at her sides as she cries into his chest, tears wetting his turtle neck sweater. He picked her up bridal style and brought her to the couch. "I. Love. You. Please. Forgive. Me", he said softly by her lips and punctuated each word with a soft kiss. She cries harder and nod her head furiously as response.
Maybe she was right in a wrong way. Breakups are so like her but in a way that she can move on, gain new hope and lead a better life in the future. The hurtful feeling were there but time will help wash it away as long as she learns to forgive, give herself and him another chance to make everything right.
